From 1998 to 2004, Greg worked for Apple Computer Australia managing K–12 Education in NSW. He now works for NETGEAR, a leading supplier of network technologies.

Bryn Jones

Bryn Jones is an Apple Distinguished Educator and has worked with teachers and ICT in the classroom for many years including 9 years at the University of Notre Dame. Through his company ICTPD.NET. he has developed numerous online courses since 1997 and has designed and delivered online Professional Development for Northern Territory DEET, Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia, Cairns Catholic Diocese and individual schools and teachers across Australia.
Much of this work has been with teachers in very remote and isolated areas. His workshop on Moodle at BETT, London 2007, was one of the most popular of the conference.

Kylie Smith (with previous experience in Behaviour support and engagement and as a Maths/Science teacher) currently works with Learning Engagement Online (Sunshine Coast South District Behaviour Support Team) In this role, she works with behaviourally challenging and disengaged students using innovative technology and relationship building to re-engage students. Key interests include using technology in learning engagement, literacy, and personal development through the use of "real life" authentic and challenging tasks. Lyndal Hose

Beginning employment with Commonwealth Employment Service (CES), as well as a range of Hospitality roles, employment, customer service and associated sales/marketing of individuals and services, has been a continued theme in her career.
Lyndal began with the Cerebral Palsy League of Qld (CPLQ) in the late 90's.  This continued for over 8 years in various roles, for the last 5 years, finding employment for people with disabilities in the Open Labour Market with Access Employment Service a Specialist Not-for-Profit Disability Open Employment Service, auspiced by CPLQ. In this time Lyndal also started and singularly manned an office in Caboolture for CPLQ, winning Highly Commended in the Caboolture Excellence in Business Awards, in the first year of operation.  Access Employment Service- Caboolture continues today.
Lyndal Hose has been Business Development Manager with Electro Group Apprentices for 12 months to date. Electro Group Apprentices is a Not-for-Profit Specialist Group Training Organisation for the Electrotechnology Industry.
Lyndal has attained a Diploma in Frontline Management and Cert IV Workplace Assessment and Training as well as many disability specific training courses.
Enjoying working with young people within the area of employment continues to be her passion and career.

Peter John Maggs

A former teacher and Internet curriculum consultant, he has been responsible for developing the education strategy behind Kahootz, an online educational community that allows students and teachers to share and exchange multimedia content with classrooms around the world.

Peter's main role at the ACTF has been to empower children to become innovative and active participants, rather than merely passive consumers of media.

Damien Kee obtained his degree in Electrical Engineering from UQ in 2001 and is currently completing his PhD in Robotics. He has been teaching robotics, engineering and fundamental software concepts to students and teachers throughout Queensland for over 5 years.  Damien is currently the Chair of the organising committee for the 2007 RoboCup Junior Australian Championships as well as the Australian representative on the International Committee.

Richard Kelly is the coordinator of IPT in the virtual schooling service. He has taught IPT almost exclusively for 6 years and is an experienced commercial and educational software engineer. IPT Online at http://www.ipto.com.au/ was developed by Richard over the last 3 years and is an ongoing project, currently in use by dozens of schools in Queensland and interstate. Richard has presented at the 2005 QSITE conference, the 2006 ACEC conference in Cairns and will be presenting at the 2007 QSITE conference.

Karren Needer

I have been a primary school teacher for more than 20 years and a teacher-librarian for the last 7 years. I have become increasingly involved in integrating ICT into the learning process, with strong emphases on information access and multi-media presentations. I have found using ICT in my everyday teaching experiences to be highly motivating for the students and believe that the skills and experiences really do enhance student outcomes. In 2006 I received a Smart Classrooms ICT Teacher Award for making ICT integral to learning.  My role continues to expand and evolve, providing workshop activities for teachers in the use of various applications, and advising on classroom management to maximise ICT integration into normal classroom situations.

Liz Blumson is a Co-ordinator of the University of Queensland Library Cyberschool.  She has had many years experience in teaching English and Drama in independent secondary schools and has worked as a teacher-librarian for the last twenty years.  She worked with Education Queensland as Senior Project Officer responsible for setting up libraries in new schools.  She tutors at Queensland University of Technology in the School of Cultural Language & Language Studies in Education. She joined the UQL Cyberschool team at the beginning of 2000 enabling her to further her interest in promoting information literacy among school students.

Matt joined Datacom in January 2007 and has over ten years experience in the IT industry. Matt has previously worked with Hewlett-Packard and has extensive experience in designing and delivering SAN storage solutions, backup architectures, data replication and disaster recovery solutions, and Virtual Infrastructure environments. Gadj and Jodie Maymuru

Gadj Maymuru is a traditional man for NE Arnhem Land with a wealth of knowledge relating to his people and ancient culture. An artist, presenter and cultural ambassador, Gadj provides the cultural content for Sharing Culture programs. He holds cultural workshops and has also mentored “Boys at Risk” in primary schools.

Jodie Maymuru has a Diploma in Multi-media and has developed the interactive Sharing Culture programs. Jodie is a Cert IV qualified and experienced trainer, teaching Indigenous adults through TAFE.

Gadj and Jodie are parents of Aboriginal children and know what works and what doesn’t as far as education and Aboriginal children.

Greg Egan

Greg Egan has been involved in computer education since the late 1980's. He was a high school ICT teacher/coordinator with qualifications including a Bachelor of Educational Studies and a Graduate Diploma of Computer Education.  In 2005 he left his teaching job to be involved in ICT professional development for teachers, which he now provides through his business, Learn ICT. Since mid 2006, Joomla webistes have become a major focus.

Garrett Huston is the Australian Interwrite Product Specialist with Kookaburra Educational Resources.  Garrett has led seminars and training workshops across several industries including hospitality, management, small business and educuation.  Garrett's degree in Medieval Studies, his time as an apprentice chef, and his love of travel hasn't seemed to hurt him much.  Garrett works with trainers and educators every day to help find innovative ways to use Interwrite interactive classroom tools.

Birgit Loch

Birgit Loch is a PhD graduate in computational mathematics from the University of Queensland. She now works as a lecturer in computing at the University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba, where she teaches large first-year courses in mathematics and in computing. Her research interests include mathematical representation of leaf surfaces, and more recently the use of tablet technology for teaching in the classroom and at a distance.

Sel Kerans

Sel Kerans is currently the Regional Technology Manager, Sunshine Coast for Education Queensland with almost 20 years experience in learning and leadership with ICTs in a diverse range of classroom settings.  Sel has been heavily involved in the implementation of the Smart Classrooms Professional Development Framework strategy from both the Education Queensland and QSITE perspectives and has coordinated the process of assessment of teacher portfolios for the Pedagogical Licence - Advanced. Sel is the immediate past President of QSITE and former representative on the Australian Council for Computers in Education and hosts one of Australia's longest running web projects in support of teachers - Project Atmosphere Australia Online.

Terri Barker has worked in education for 20 years. She is passionate about finding ways to engage students in learning and is currently working as part of the learning engagement team LEO, Sunshine Coast South.

Dee has a background in Film, Television and New Media but has also taught English, Speech and Drama, SOSE and Life Skills.  She is a new member of the Learning Engagement Online Team at Sunshine Coast South's District Office.

Prior to the role of Training and Presales Director for Blue Reef for the last 5 years Greg has had roles as the Technical Services Manager, as well as Checkpoint Principal engineer, and Netscreen/Portus firewall engineer for a Network Security Integration company. Prior to that Greg has had 10 years of experience in Technical support and IT management at Monash University where he was involved in using network and computing technologies towards educational and research outcomes.

Joanna Walker

My name is Joanna Walker and I am a teacher at Forest Lake College. I have a passion for ICT and enjoy using new technologies.  Originally I started my teaching career in New Zealand. While I was there I worked with a number of teachers to develop a successful ICT programme for use in classrooms. I spent two years setting up and working in digital classrooms, in a primary school setting. Over the last two years I have been working at Forest Lake College where I have continued to work on developing successful ICT programmes for classroom use.

Over these years I have conducted a range of in-service workshops for teachers, students and parents.  The most recent being the ‘Success For Boys’ project, where the main focus was to engage boys in literacy using an ICT focus.

This year at our school we are working with ‘HeuLab’ and ISQ on using the HeuLab software in our classrooms, which has proved to be a very positive experience.

 

 

Len Henderson

Len Henderson is a director of Binary Designs, a company dedicated to furthering the use of technology in music education. In addition to his consulting work and presentations within schools and universities, Len is also an accomplished guitarist, having performed extensively in the jazz and rock idiom and appeared on several contemporary music albums.

 

James Humberstone

James Humberstone is a composer and educator, originally from the UK and now resident in Australia. He is currently Senior Education Consultant for Sibelius Software Australia. Having completed his Masters Degree in music composition at the University of Sydney, James has now embarked on his PhD.
