Ferny Grove State High School is located in a beautiful bushland setting in the suburb of Ferny Grove, just 12 km from the centre of Brisbane. The area is well serviced by both train and bus lines.
First established in 1980, the school has developed a reputation for the provision of excellence in educational opportunities across spheres of academic studies, sporting, cultural and citizenship. While the school population has grown to over 1650 students it has retained its ability to treat each student as an individual who is encouraged and supported to “always aim high”.The school has a positive reputation within the community and is acknowledged as one of the most respected State High Schools in Queensland.
The German Immersion Program, Information Communication Technologies, Greater Brisbane Schools Sporting Membership, Agricultural Science and Instrumental and Vocal Music Programs are distinctive features of the school. These programs expand on the extensive formal curriculum and extracurricular programs offered.
Dear Year 12 Families and Friends of Graduating Students
As you would be aware the school has suffered considerable damage from the recent storms and coupled with the predicted weather conditions for the next few days the following changes have needed to be put in place for the advertised pre-formal.
There will be NO parking available on the school oval and the area outside the hall and the front of the school is very muddy. Our fence line is damaged and the fence line and footpath are not in the best condition.
Consequently students have been requested to make arrangements for formal cars to leave from family homes. We will not be announcing the departure of formal cars from the school nor are we expecting that the Qld Police Service to offer their usual assistance to ensure safety along McGinn Road.
The Formal Photographer will be set up in the hall for family photos for a short period only. Further opportunities for students to have photos taken will be available at the formal venue.
Your understanding and support for these changes is greatly appreciated.
