Swimming Carnival is on. See Newflash at right for details. Watch this space for updates on the swimming carnival in case of bad weather. Updated Tuesday 6:50am

Ferny Grove State High School is located in a beautiful bushland setting in the suburb of Ferny Grove, just 12 km from the centre of Brisbane. The area is well serviced by both train and bus lines.

First established in 1980, the school has developed a reputation for the provision of excellence in educational opportunities across spheres of academic studies, sporting, cultural and citizenship. While the school population has grown to over 1650 students it has retained its ability to treat each student as an individual who is encouraged and supported to “always aim high”.The school has a positive reputation within the community and is acknowledged as one of the most respected State High Schools in Queensland.

The German Immersion Program, Information Communication Technologies, Greater Brisbane Schools Sporting Membership, Agricultural Science and Instrumental and Vocal Music Programs are distinctive features of the school. These programs expand on the extensive formal curriculum and extracurricular programs offered.

Swimming Carnival Information

The swimming carnival is on Tuesday at the Ferny Hills pool. Students are to meet in the park outside the side gates to the pool by 8:45. Entry costs $2 and is payable upon entry to the pool. Rolls will be marked once you have paid your money. Any students arriving later need to see Mr Cochrane at the recorders desk. All students are expected to attend. Any students wishing to leave early must have a note and present this to the teachers/deputy on duty. Students are encouraged to wear their house colours on the day, along with plenty of sunscreen and a hat. You can bring your own food and drink or buy it at the pool but you may not order food and have it delivered to the pool. Most importantly, come and have a fun day and enjoy yourselves. PS If the weather looks threatening, check the school website early in the morning, it will have info letting you know if the swimming carnival is off or not.
