Hi! My name is Simon Taylor and I work full-time as a chaplain here at Ferny Grove SHS. I began chaplaincy at Ferny Grove at the beginning of last year and I must say my first year was a huge learning experience for me with getting to know the students, staff and others involved within the community. With this said, I have enjoyed every minute of this new journey and would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have warmly welcomed me into this school.
My role as Chaplain at Ferny Grove involves running and organising a variety of activities and groups for the students, such as, Christian groups and lunchtime activities like karaoke, games, prayer and mentoring. Being actively involved in school life is also a major part of my role and I do this by helping where needed on camps, excursions, performances, anti-bulling programs and sports days. I also partner with local churches to provide positive out of school activities and camps that seek to enrich student’s lives.
Chaplaincy is part of a strong support network within Ferny Grove SHS providing pastoral care, guidance and a helping hand when needed. I am really looking forward to this coming year and what it holds. I hope so much that I can continue to serve in anyway I am needed.
