By registering you agree to participate in the pre and post evaluation being conducted by DrinkWise Australia. The evaluation consists of a short questionnaire which can be completed by email. This research is vital for the future development of this educational program for the safety of our teenagers.
Dear Parents,
We are all aware that the issues facing youth today are wide and varied. As a parent it is
hard not to be concerned by the daily media reports of binge drinking, and consequent alcohol related harm including road trauma, youth violence, sexual assault and related injury to our young people, not to mention the broader community. The challenge for parents is how to assist our youth in dealing with these issues.

In an effort to address the concerns of parents Drinkwise Australia has contributed funding for the design, delivery, review and evaluation of a pilot project entitled “Putting Parents in the Picture” to be conducted in various locations throughout South East Queensland over the coming months.
I am excited to announce that Ferny Grove State High School is one of those sites hosting the event on Wednesday 22nd July, details are highlighted above. Key information addressed at this evening will be:
· Understanding the law in relation to hosting under age parties.
· Understanding the risks of hosting an under age party
· Awareness of risk minimisation strategies for hosting parties
· Promoting solidarity between parents, teachers and stakeholders when dealing with issues facing youth
The pilot project is part of the educational resource developed by Queensland solicitors Adair Donaldson and Peter Shannon. The acclaimed resource is described by Wayne Bennett as an: “innovative, pro-active, unique presentation that makes compelling viewing...it challenges communities to come together to discuss, confront and take action to address the many issues facing society today”.
Information about the program is available at www.puttingyouthinthepicture.com
The evaluation phase of this project is critical to the future funding of community educational resources, and so your participation and feedback is vital to the success or otherwise of this trial. In essence this is your chance to have a say in the development of a resource which may make a difference for your kids and for future generations of young Australians.
Ideally, parents will be requested to complete brief pre and post evaluation feedback forms by email. To register your interest, please note and complete the attached registration form on the above notice.
