ASCA launches cookbook at FGSHS

17/05/2017
ASCA is recognised as Australia’s leading buying group and purchasing advisor for schools and school canteens.  ASCA is a not-for-profit association of schools that focuses on improving the financial outcomes for schools by using its significant buying power to bring additional savings to items purchased for school suppliers and services, property management, equipment and the canteen.

ASCA operates in all states and territories, working with over 100 suppliers, offering products and services in all areas of school procurement and provides services to over 4500 member schools across Australia.

On Wednesday 17 May 2017, two-time Olympic gold medallist Cate Campbell launched ASCA’s first ever cookbook, and the first of its kind in Australia, Food for Thought, designed specifically for school canteens. ASCA chose Ferny Grove SHS to host the launch.

The cookbook has over 200 pages of resource information and recipes, it has been written in association with Queensland chef, Alison Taafe, and specifically designed for schools. Approximately 2000 copies will be distributed free of charge to schools across Australia.

After the launch, students had the opportunity to ask Cate questions, this was followed by a cooking demonstration in the canteen by chef Alison Taafe. Guests were then treated to a taste of “Chicken San Choi Bao”, which was absolutely sensational!

We are looking forward to tasting more of these healthy recipes.
