Special Education Services

The Special Education Program at Ferny Grove SHS works with students who have a verified diagnosis in one or more of the following categories:

  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • Intellectual Impairment
  • Speech and Language Impairment
  • Physical Impairment
  • Hearing Impairment
  • Vision Impairment

Each student with a verified diagnosis has an Education Adjustment Profile which identifies the adjustments that are made in the classroom and school program to provide an inclusive education. The EAP is reviewed in accordance with the student's development, abilities and progress. Adjustments are made in the areas of Curriculum, Communication, Social Participation/Emotional Wellbeing, Health and Personal Care, Safety, and Learning Environment/Access.

Additionally, each student has an Individual Education Program (IEP) which is a set of goals for the student to work towards and is reviewed every six months. Class teachers and other personnel will be asked for imput into the compilation of this document.

The individual needs of each student are considered when providing options to assist with their transition to work. This may include additional study programs or work experience.
