The challenges of the
modern world require a new approach to how we interact with students. This
presents both concerns and exciting new innovations that can improve student
outcomes. The Digital Learning department is centred around leading FGSHS to
embrace all aspects of this Digital Learning for the benefit of our students.
We have started this
ensuring that students have access to digital devices through the Laptop program which was rolled out to include all year levels in 2015;
engaging with the community through social media to celebrate successes;
using the school website and other applications to provide up-to date important information for both students and parents;
working with faculties to create online storage for student work;
working with students to improve their digital skills to manage files, back-up, email communication and other important skills for successful use of their laptops;
developing multimodal assessment;
working in an online environment for innovative student-centred learning, including blogs, class chats and assessment.
