Ferny Grove is a Brisbane residential suburb of approximately 4 km² situated 12 km north-west of central Brisbane. It is immediately south of Kedron Brook, the boundary between Brisbane City Council and Moreton Bay Regional Council. The suburb is situated in a hilly district which includes the Brisbane State Forest (Samford and Enoggera Reservoir), and adjoins Upper Kedron, which encloses several tributary streams of Kedron Brook. It is a leafy area with 13% of the land area devoted to parkland. The terminal of the Ferny Grove Rail line is situated in the suburb.
As at the 2011 census, the population of Ferny Grove was 5609. 78% of people living in Ferny Grove were born in Australia. Households are predominantly couples with children. The median age of the population is 38 years. The area is currently under expansion, with numerous new housing developments being constructed in the Ferny Grove and adjacent Upper Kedron areas.
The area is fully serviced with bus and rail transport, shopping facilities, schools, churches, and sporting and recreational grounds.
The Ferny Grove area has an active Neighbourhood Watch program.
