Welcome to the Humanities of Ferny Grove State High School. Our Department covers a vital, active, socially and environmentally aware group of subjects that individually and collectively provide perspectives on people’s interactions with each other and their surroundings.
Covering a time span from the most ancient of times to the foreseeable future, students studying within our Department will gain an important insight into how people have, do and will engage with their social and physical environments to create change. These understandings should encourage them to become more responsible, thoughtful and educated citizens for future generations. Our aim is to awaken in each student an awareness of their place in the world and a desire to become lifelong learners.
I lead a team of experienced, knowledgeable, dedicated, innovative and enthusiastic teachers who utilise a range of teaching styles and techniques, and are committed to achieving the very best outcomes for all students. Lessons are co-ordinated within the teaching teams and texts, technology, databases and field experiences are included within the teaching spectrum.
The Humanities Department offers an extremely wide range of subject choice, a choice most schools could only dream of, including nine Junior topics (A), five Senior General Subjects (B) and two Senior Applied Subjects (C).
